After a long thought, we decided to plan our West Papua trip with Jefalgi Papua Tours. The e-mail contact with Athan was always very fast and reliable. The whole organization of the trip was perfect. At the airport in Jayapura, Athan was already approaching us because he had recognized us by the photos, and immediately sent us to the plane to take us to Dekai. Arrived there, were immediately received by our guide Olfied. Olfied then accompanied us on our trip to the Korowai and to the Baliem Valley. Olfied is a very sympathetic guide. We always felt safe in his company and he took care of us so well that we felt like guest of honour. Olfied speaks very good English, he knows a lot, has patiently answered our many questions and told interesting stories. He has also fulfilled every special wish. Olfied is also an excellent cook. Through him we got to know a lot of exotic fruits and vegetables, which are not available at our home country. Even in the deep jungle he provided us with the best. Our drivers and, above all, the boat driver Sam, who had to concentrate on the many flotsam in the river for hours, had very high reliability. In the jungle village of Mabul, we were greeted by the locals friendly and received much visitors in our accommodation. In the house of Acer - our local guide - we spent a night on the way to and back from the jungle. Acer is a Korowai and he knows where the Korowai are. He protected us from poisonous serpents and brought us safely over rivers and through waterholes. Our trip to the Korowai was very exhausting because of the high temperatures and the high humidity, the many mosquitoes and the unusual physical exertion. But after our arrival at the Korowai, we were rewarded with an unforgettable experience from which we will live in the past. Previously in Mabul, Olfied had organized 7 very nice porters, who accompanied us into the jungle. We were welcomed very warmly by the Korowai and were able to see how these people master their daily life in the jungle in the coming days. We stayed overnight in the tent and thanks to Olfied and our porters, we were able to eat here as well. The Korowai showed us how they fell a sago-palm and produced Sago. We could look how they do the small handwork and they showed us how to make baskets for fishing from palm trees. We visited one of the smaller tree houses, in the highest (about 25 m) we did not dare. The farewell to these dear people was then very difficult for us. Afterwards we visited the Baliem Valley and the Dani people. We were shown how the battles went on and a traditional pig cooking festival was held for us. In another Dani village we could see a mummy and then it we hat to say goodbye to Olfied, who has grown to our heart. We have made many journeys around the world, but Olfied was the best guide we ever had. He took us to the airport in Wamena and waited for hours until our plane had actually taken off. In Jayapura we were again reliably picked up by our guide Edward and our driver Ridwan and could spend a last nice day in Sentani and Jayapura. If anyone is planning a trip to West Papua, we can highly recommend Jefalgi Papua Tours. Everything has worked perfectly and there is really nothing negative to report. We plan to travel again to Indonesia and we will definitely plan the trip again with Jefalgi Papua Tours and ask for Olfied.

I just got back from the trip to the Baliem Valley and the Korowai tribe. it was a wonderful time and an unforgettable adventure. Indonesia is a beautiful country, but Papua is amazing! People, nature, animals - everything you need to see. THIS IS RETURN TO THE PAST! Month without phone coverage, electricity and bathroom :) And no tourists! I always travel solo (without a guide), but this time I could not go into the jungle without a guide. After few months of searching, I found Jefalgi Papua Tours and Athan. I chose Jefalgi with many tour operators, because I had very good email contact with Athan. He answered me patiently to all my questions, and gave me advice, tips and hints. Very helpfully man and really professional tour operator - during the preparations and during the trek. Everything was organized perfectly- surat jalan, tickets, porters and weather:)) First of all, Jefalgi Papua Tour has the best guide in Papua - Olfied. He has a strong knowledge of the region, says a lot of stories, very helpful and friendly, he has a great contact with people. Really good and professional guide. Organizationally it was great - porters, food, contact with the tribes, everything was great. Note - the road to trekku muddy so you have to have rubber boots or waders. It was expensive, because the preparations for the expedition to the jungle are complicated, but the impressions and memories will be my whole life. Never forget Korowai tribe, especially Bailum, accommodation on a tree in the jungle - every moment I will remember forever.

Athan and Jefalgi Papua Tours organized my tour to Papua. It was a great tour : our guide was great, our porters were great, our hosts in Klise were great. For all planning a trip to Papua I would like to give one piece of advice : at least one night at the village with local people is a MUST! Thanks Athan for all. Probably I will come back....

ATTRACTION RECOMMENDED! Papua is quite safe to be visiting. Don't you know that Papua is one of the best place in Indonesia? Do at least one day to the southern of baliem valley by staying in the local people houses, there would be more interesting than just walking. Stay at local house while chatting with locals. Our tour guide ridwan was energic and very informative, honest. Explained all the areas we visited in baliem valley. This place is very recommended to all travelers as well as Jefalgi Papua tours is the best local tour operator we had for organizing our amazing trip in papua.

An amazing adventurous Moment in Papua Hi all, just google it, you will find this company easy. we couldn't be more enthusiastic about everything Athan and his team did for us. This was absolutely unforgettable, and it's amazing how Athan was able to turn a disaster into a fantastic plan in less then two hours! It was long story… In baliem Valley Wamena our local guide for the Baliem Valley region. He is an absolutely incredible guy, who's absolutely at the top of the list of all the guides we've travelled with anywhere in Southeast Asia. Kind, knowledgeable, always in a great mood, energetic and always with attention to safety and detail. Besides our tour guide, our group included five porters/cooks, including two local Dani men, and we travelled together for the following four days trekking across Southern Baliem Valley and sleeping in Dani villages, usually in huts that have been built and set aside for trekkers sleeping over. The entire group was incredibly nice and kind, and the food was unbelievably delicious - we were constantly amazed how they managed to prepare such delicious food in these rather remote locations...! The difficulty of the trekking itself was, I believe, intermediate - we probably averaged some 12 km per day, but it did involve going up and down some relatively steep hills every once in a while, so I probably wouldn't recommend it for the people who are not so used to hiking. However, I'm sure Athan will be more than ready to indicate or adapt a plan to suit every group's level of fitness and capabilities. many thanks for reading this useful review, ask me whenever you would need to know about the trip and the company itself.
